Police on Thursday seized about 50 bikes and cars in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district ahead of first death anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.
Police along with SOG had laid nakas at several key points leading to main town Pulwama.
They check points were set up at Shopian road near jail complex Pulwama, Tahab circle road, Pinglina near petrol pump, and at Neva road near degree college Pulwama, where SOG personnel were checking documents of vehicles coming from different areas of Puwama.
“It is a fact that our district is full of trouble makers and in order to curtail their movement in coming days, we have launched a drive to nab the trouble mongers. We want to restrict them from heading towards Tral so that peace is not disturbed in the coming days,” a police official said.
He said in most of the cases, the drivers were found without proper documents.
“Some were driving without licenses and registration certificates. We seized many cars and bikes and the drive will continue in the coming days also,” the police official said.
Sources said 50 bikes and cars were seized during the drive by the police.
